A bedroom is a sanctuary. It is your employee’s space where they can relax and rest after their shift at work. Their bedroom needs to be comfortable and clean, an area where they feel the most at home. It is their home away from home.
From providing privacy, to a place for them to catch up on some sleep, your bedrooms are the most personal place your employees will have when staying in your camp. For this reason, your bedrooms need to be clean, modern and should include some homely touches to bring the room to life. From the bedding to the furniture, everything should exude comfort and home. This all helps to boost your employee’s morale and mental health.
So where to start with designing your bedroom accommodation?
When you start your bedroom designs, it is best to start with your floorplans. If you don’t have these, you’ll want to create some of your own. At Minesite Furniture we offer a free design and consultation service which includes the creation of floorplans and 3D renders of your spaces.
By drawing up the area, you will be able to see the exact amount of space you have to work with. For example, if you are working with an existing room, there may be walls or cabinetry (existing fixtures) that you may need to work around. Your plans should also include things such as where powerpoints are in the room. This will determine where you place certain pieces of furniture.
With the floor plans drawn up, then you will be able to move on to what you want to include in your bedrooms.
What do should be included in a bedroom in a mine site accommodation camp?
Add a touch of home to your bedrooms and they’ll come alive. The obvious furniture would include a bed, a chair, bedside table, and a cupboard. Extras would include desks or more storage solutions. Liven up the room with lamps, greenery, blinds, and lighting. Every little ‘extra’ touch adds another level of comfort and will boost the experience your employee has while staying in your camp. You might like to add some other elements such as shelving to add some more storage options for your employees.
With your window blinds, you will want to consider if there are any night shift employees using the rooms. If there are, you will need to include block out blinds. On a similar note, will extra lighting be needed, or will there be in-built lighting? This will determine whether you add a lamp or other lighting options to your rooms.
Once you have decided on the furniture you are wanting to include in the room, the next decision to make would be the style you are going for.
What does style mean in a mine site accommodation camp bedroom?
Typically, a bedroom is our own sacred space. It’s the one room in our parents’ house growing up that is ours. Then as we move into our own houses, it’s the one room in the house that is purely for our own comfort, peace, and privacy. For your employees, this is no different.
There is nothing more impersonal than a hotel room. They don’t exactly scream “home”. We don’t want mine site accommodation to be like this. We want accommodation camps to an oasis, a home away from home. The bedrooms you provide is where you can really make this happen.
Adding style and homeliness to your rooms will boost your employee’s comfort and increase their morale and mental health. Different colours in the rooms bring life and vitality to the space, and therefore lift the mood of the occupants.
Whilst Heavy Duty furniture isn’t exactly pretty, it can look nice. If you decide to go with furniture that is a bit higher on the spectrum, it will look nice and neat and modern in the room. Adding furniture that has character will take away from the ‘hotel’ feeling that many camp bedrooms tend to have.
The other consideration you will need to keep in mind is the mine that is nearby and whether the environment will stain the furniture. For example, an iron ore mine will turn any light furniture orange and therefore we would encourage colours that are more likely to hide the orange stains.
Flooring and wall colours will also determine the colours and styles you decide to go with. If you’re starting with a brand-new room, you can choose the wall and floor colours yourself to suit what you have in your mind. However, if there are existing walls and flooring to work around, this will affect the style you end up going with.
What else is there do I need to consider when fitting out my mine site accommodation bedrooms?
Finally, you will need to consider your budget and lead-time. These are often two factors we’ve found that greatly affect the furniture and fit out you will end up going with. However, if you decide to work with Minesite Furniture, we will take all of this into consideration and present you with your best options that fit in with your lead-time and budget.
