The journey began with an initial inquiry via email and phone call. Recognizing the unique needs of the project, we promptly arranged a visit to their headquarters to discuss the upgrade requirements in detail. Following this meeting, we had a whirlwind one-day trip to the site to take measurements and observe the space in action.

Crafting the Vision

With a clear vision in mind, we returned to the headquarters to present our design proposal, provide a quote, and secure approval. The dining hall needed a significant transformation, especially after a new facility management company took over the camp. The old tables and chairs were dated and heavily used, calling for a fresh, modern look.

The company envisioned a dining hall that felt more like a restaurant or café, providing workers with a mental break from their demanding day. They wanted a space where employees could relax and feel at ease, as if they were in a comfortable café rather than a work site.

  • Custom Kitchen Buffets: These replaced the old stainless-steel tables, providing both storage and a functional, aesthetic upgrade.
  • Booth Seating: Designed for comfort and functionality, these booths also helped create a sense of direction in the space.
  • Polypropylene Chairs: We chose these for their strength, ease of cleaning, and modern design.
  • Varied Seating Options: We incorporated a mix of 2, 4, and 6-seater tables in different styles and heights to emulate a café layout.
  • Modern Design Touches: Radius corner tops were added to modernize the design.
  • ‘Real Look’ Hanging Greenery: To bring a sense of life and revitalisation, contrasting beautifully with the mine’s dry heat.
